SEC1: Security Awareness for Operating Personnel

Module Description: 

This one-day workshop is aimed at employees in production facilities such as water and wastewater treatment plants, food production, and other automated processes who work with office systems and technical equipment on a daily basis. The goal is to provide a practical and realistic understanding of today's cyberattacks and to highlight the role that each individual plays in protecting the supply chain. Instead of theory, the focus is on understandable, real-life examples from everyday operations.

Participants learn how modern attacks work and why critical infrastructures are particularly affected. Typical scenarios such as manipulated remote access, prepared USB sticks, or deceptively genuine phishing emails clearly illustrate how closely human behavior is linked to the security of the facility.

One focus is on everyday situations such as urgent-looking emails, fake technical calls, or the use of unknown data carriers. Participants learn to recognize risks and react correctly in case of doubt—without assigning blame, but with clear, secure routines.

Another component is the connection between IT and OT security. The workshop clearly shows how closely the two areas are related and how small lapses in attention in seemingly everyday situations can have an impact on process management.

The workshop is rounded off with concrete guidance, simple rules of thumb and interactive exercises.
